Chevrolet Corvette C8 Air Suspension Guide

The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the best examples of a true American muscle car. From the early models in the mid-60s to the newest C8 body style, Chevrolet has continued to raise the bar for American sports cars. The new C8 is one of the sportiest-looking Corvettes that has ever been built, leaving car enthusiasts with only a few options for modifications. Many C8 owners choose to go with suspension and wheels as their first mods as they make the biggest impact. Choosing air suspension can give you the ability to raise and lower your C8 at the push of a button. Let’s take a look at what you will need for a complete air suspension system.

Chevrolet Corvette C8 Air Suspension Guide

Do C8 Corvettes Have Air Suspension

From the factory, the C8 Corvette was available with 4 different suspensions, but none included air suspension. This was due to the performance capabilities of Chevrolet’s performance suspension options. These included:

  • Standard Corvette Stingray Suspension (FE1)
  • Standard Suspension w/ Magnetic Selective Ride Control (FE2)
  • Z51 Performance Suspension (FE3)
  • Z51 Performance Suspension w/ Magnetic Selective Ride Control (FE4)

What Do I Need To Add Air Suspension To My C8 Corvette?

To add air suspension to your C8 Corvette, you will need to either purchase an air suspension kit and add the appropriate C8 Corvette air struts. If you prefer to build your kit, you can use the guide below to ensure you get everything you need.

Air Compressor

Air suspension systems use compressed air to inflate the air struts to raise and lower your vehicle. This starts with one or two air compressors that take in outside air, compress it, and send it to your air tank to be used in your system.

Air Tank

The role of your air suspension air tank is to store compressed air until it is needed to inflate your air struts. These tanks are usually found in 3-gallon or 5-gallon configurations and are usually mounted in the trunk of the vehicle. Check out our ENDO line of air tanks for a modular tank setup that is built to last and is rust-resistant.

Air Lines

To get your compressed air to each component, you will need plenty of air line. This air line connects to each of the components of your system to deliver the compressed air from your compressor, all the way to the air struts.

Valve Manifold

The valve manifold in your air suspension system is made up of electronically controlled valves that open and close at the push of a button. These valves meter air to your air struts to raise and lower your vehicle.

Management System

You will need a good air management system to get full control over your air suspension system. At AccuAir, we design and manufacture some of the industry's best air suspension management systems to allow you to get the most from your system.

Air Struts/Shocks

The only component in an air suspension system that is vehicle specific is the air struts. Since you are replacing your factory shocks and struts with air struts, you will need air struts built specifically for your C8.
